You choose between a few unique characters (knight, brawler, Ninja, archer, some more) and play Story mode.
Once you finished the Story you can play the advanced mode with much stronger enemies (Same Story again)
Max lvl is said to be 200 but who knows how high it can get.
Explore it, grind until the end!
It is even possible to create items (most powerful ones ingame) with different rare ores.
